Hi everybody there. This is an excellent forum and a great resource, congratulations! Now my question. I was notified that I was going to get an offer for a position as a geological specialist ( the same I applied online and was interviewed for). However, my offer (arrived two days ago) specifies a position of Geologist II, SC 13. Is a geologist II considered geological specialist?, should my offer states Geological Specialist? I read a post which explains salary codes and positions for PE (petroleum engeneer?). Is the same for geologists? In that post, PE specialist correspond to higher grades. I would appreciate your comments.

Geologist Specialist is a GC15 position. Sometimes, your hiring department offered a different GC for new hire from the advertised GC depends on your degree and work experience. You can always contact your recruiter in ASC regarding this issue. Usually, GC13 is offered for less than 10 years experineces after Ph.D.

how much exp. do you have? if you have between 10 - 15 years, push for GC 15. Do not settle for GC 13. it will take you probably 10 years to get to 15. the company is desperate for people. they are hiring warm bodies at GC 14 and 15.

mexgeo,
Geologist II is GC13 (the same apply as the PE post), Geological specialist is a GC15
With 10-15 years experience, I wouldn't hire you as a GC15 as that would create a lot of friction in the department since most GC15 are those with 20+ years experience.

Thank you all for this information. Very helpful. I have 15 years of experience as a geologist and nine in the petroleum industry. I am a single female from Mexico. I am deeply studying my offer (revised, second offer). Sometimes, you hear about international standards, and I was surprised that the offer was less than I investigated with colleagues holding same experience or even less. Can Aramco make a third offer or they normally offer twice? Not really convinced about the base salary. However, the opportunity to do geology in the middle East is pushing me. Hard desicion ...guess many have been there!
