erdna_oaoj,
do these 14days count as vacation days? I mean are these subtracted from the 38 days in total or they are on top of that? thank you

Yes they do count as vacations days to be subtracted to vacations days you are enled. That's why wen managing your vacation days you'll need to manage those return to base days for documents renewal.

There seems to be some kind of misconception in the last couple of posts. You do not need to take any vacation days ('L' days) in order to renew your iqama or exit/re-entry visa. You just submit a request via the passport office. These renewals can take up to 10 days (though they normally take less) and while the renewals are being processed, you keep working as normal without using up any 'L' days.
You do need to take at least 14 'L' days to qualify for a repat leave and get the repat payment but that is a totally different issue.

Thanks GroveWanderer !!!
Well to be honest that's what was told in the pre-departure orientation, maybe I've just misunderstood it, but I've heard that issue in other posts. I've read somewhere that before our fist 12 month in the kingdom ended you'll have to take a 14 days trip back home for documentation renewal. That always caused me some confusion because if your 12 months anniversary ended up to be during school year your kids will have to miss school... But I've never worried much about it since sooner or later once in the kingdom I'll have to deal with it and figure it out how it works.
It makes total sense what you just have said, so I guess that clears it all.

vpainter,
so you mean that if someone gets hired lets say on Nov 2014, which is before the end of the current year, then he/she will be eligible for an annual repat. But in case someone gets hired on or after 1st of Jan 2015, then he/she gets the annual repat on 1st of Jan 2016?.

I got Offer letter, but I am not sure if I am making right decision.
1. I am 11.6 years experienced and the Position is mentioned as Engineer III ? Does it mean Novice, Senior or Lead?
2. The Base Monthly Salary is less than what I use to earn 6 years before! What should I do?
3. In Kingdom Educational Assistance Plan is mentioned as Zero (0). I have Son in Grade 2 and Daughter in Grade 1.
Please advise! Thanks in Advance!

dimk,
Correct. That is probably why the recruiters keeps pushing for you to join the company by 31st December instead of 1st Jan. It basically means you get an extra repat payment if you join on the 31st of December

Dimk, yes.
************************************** Yegtodha,
You can negotiate salary. Usually you resubmit your paystubs and write asking for Aramco to match your salary, or whatever it is you want to ask for.
EAP is not in the offer because your children are not the age to be eligible. When they reach the age where they need EAP for high school, then they are eligible.

For starting work midyear, do you automatically get the 2 floating “holidays” added to your vacation balance? Or not until you start on Jan 1st of the following year?
