Hi all,
First of all thank you for everyone who setup this informative forum and provide lot of valuable information.
Today, I would like to share my experience with Saudi Aramco. I am not very good in writing long stories but I try, so here we go;
AOC London Contact and Initial correspondence:
In Feb, I have received an email from AOC London team that we are working through your application to our Finance Division and we have been asked by the dept. to request you fill out the application form, this is in support of your application, please can you fill out the form so we can consider you for an interview.
I filled the form and sent that off and at the same time I asked them which position they are considering me since I applied few finance roles in Aramco.
Two days later, they replied, the position is in our Project Finance Division however what we have found is during the interview my colleagues in the Finance dept. have discussed a number of roles they are recruiting for given the broad skill sets of the people they are meeting.
Interview called and documents requested
They called an interview on 17th March and asked me if I can sent them my last 3 months payslips, copy of passport and educational certificates before I come an interview. I sent all requested documents beginning of March.
Interview experience
The interview panel consist of 4 Americans and the interview last approximate 1 hour. They talked about my past experience and asked various questions about my technical skills etc which went quite well. They did not talk about any project finance position for what they called an interview for. In the end, they seem quite happy and told me they will inform me the outcome of my application by end of March when they go back to Saudi since they have to select candidates they interviewed in London and Huston for various finance positions.
After Interview
After the interview, they referred me to member of AOC team who has gone through with presentation which illustrate the benefits of working with Saudi Armco. This was very impressive and I was so overwhelmed. This guy also told me that if your application is not successful then we don’t want to hold you for long period of time and will tell you within 2 days but if it takes time then it means it’s positive since the interview panel (Americans) can not place an offer until it is signed by one of senior managers (Saudi National), who normally take time.
Follow up Letter & Application unsuccessful
Four days later after the interview, I dropped an email to AOC to check if there is any update on my application and they said NO feedback yet but they will get back to me soon. However, I received an email two weeks later saying that after carefully reviewed your application including your qualification and experience, your application is not successful at this time but we will keep your details in the system for future position. At the same time they said due to the high volume of applications received, we regret that we are unable to provide specific feedback for individual candidates.
I really very work hard in order to get succeed in this interview and had lot of hope. I was very positive about my interview but don’t know where things went wrong. I am very SAD since I read their response. I even can not find out the reason why I have been not selected despite being a qualified accountant and having 15+ years experience in FTSE and Fortune500 companies.
I really appreciate if you guys share your experience and make some comments where things went wrong in my case?
Thanks and regards,
