o,
I received an offer letter yesterday from ARAMCO. Although the work location says Dhahran, there is no mention of the housing location in the offer letter. It does state company housing though. The worksheet also calls out 2-bedroom housing. Given the current limitations with housing in Dhahran, is it possible to negotiate residence in the Dhahran compound and a larger house?
We currently have one child, but are expecting another so would prefer to have a 3-bedroom house.
Thanks.

Housing is not usually negotiable. I do not know when you are due, but can tell you a couple already here received a house that did not include their new baby in the qualifications for a bigger house. Their baby is now 1 month old and housing has contacted them and they will be moving to the bigger house soon.
So even if you do not get the bigger house originally, I would suggest you go to the housing office and let them know you are having a baby and would like a bigger home, then let them know once the baby is born.
Although, should you get assigned to Rakah, you will receive a much larger home than you would get in DHA.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have reached out to the on-boarding coordinator, but waiting to hear back from them. Are they still putting US citizens on the main camp in DHA instead of the Rakah compound?
They said that the goal would be to get us over in the June/July timeframe.

It is best if you can let them know right away that your wife is expecting and ask if you need to submit a doctor's note. Try from now to get a 3 bedroom house because it may be very difficult to get one later. It took us a long time to be able to move from a 2 bedroom into a 3 bedroom. I had 3 kids by the time we moved to a 3 bedroom house. We had got on the bidding list for a 3 bedroom house when I was pregnant with our second child, so it was about 3 years wait for us. (in UDH compound...and I know there are other families in UDH that have 3 kids living in a 2 bedroom home...so it's not always easy to get a bigger house, especially when you don't have many points, which are mostly attained by length of service)

U.S. citizens are arriving and as far as I know, they are still being placed in Rakah temporarily. Families are being moved onto DHA as houses become available. It is by a bid process, with points being given for arrival date and GC.
