o
I've just started at Aramco, found the flight from London to Dammam with a stop over in Doha a killer (I find any flight with a stop over a killer!). Has anyone considered or tried flying direct to Riyadh then driving to Abqaiq (or Dhahran or RT)
Thanks

Quite a few reasons you would not do this.
1. First is you are issued your temporary Aramco ID in the Dammam airport. You would not be allowed to enter the compound you were going to without your ID.
2. Without your Aramco ID you will be unable to rent a car.
3. For safety reasons you would not want to make that drive tired. It would be too dangerous with you not rested and being able to drive defensively on these roads.

If you search on the BA website for Dammam to LHR you will see they offer a taxi service from the flight centre to Manama, Bahrain then a direct flight. It doesn't come up on flight search websites. It is more expensive than other options though. You also could not use this for first entry since your visa would stipulate entry by air rather than the causeway.
I have used KLM via Amsterdam a couple of times, have found it fine and will use again - personal preference though. You could also try BA flights (or Bahrain national carrier) direct from Bahrain and drive there yourself.

If you're here in kingdom and considering driving to another airport to get a direct flight, Bahrain would surely be a better option than Riyadh. It would take you less time and I know which of the two places I would rather travel through.
