This forum has answered so many of my questions without my even having to ask. There's a wealth of info here! I had a very specific question that I thought I'd ask, to see if I got lucky on someone with any insight. So here goes ...
What is the intent of the chest x-ray? Is it simply to confirm that an individual either has or at one time in the past had TB or some other communicable lung disease?
The reason I ask is that when I was a teenager I had to have several lung surgeries, including the removal of part of a lobe on one of my lungs. The staples on that lung and some scarring around them are of course clearly visible on a chest x-ray.
The condition I had was a genetic abnormality that didn't cause issues till I went through my teenage growth spurt and my lungs began to collapse spontaneously. Since my last lung surgery, 14 years ago, I have had no lung issues. Yet, I'll of course be left with the evidence of these surgeries for the rest of my life.
I've never had TB, pneumonia or any other communicable lung disease. To what extent will the Ministry of Health take into account explanations of scarring on a chest x-ray? Does it make a difference or am I out of luck? I realize this is a very specific situation; but perhaps someone with some insight might have a comment.

First, thank you for using the forum.
Unfortunately, no one can tell you for sure what the Aramco doctor who evaluates your medical records will decide.
My humble opinion is that they may ask for more information from your doctor.
My guess would be, it wouldn't be a problem. But there have been rejections, so no way to know what will be decided. You'd just have to wait and see.
If rejected the dept. hiring you would have the option to ask for an exception. Some Departments do, some do not. Some ask and are turned down. Some ask and the exception is granted.

Not about chest x-ray but along those same lines. I had a stent put in 3 years ago. I have accepted my offer, BI completed, going next week for Visa medical and a well control evaluation (I am a Sr.Drilling Foreman). SAMSO has requested more info from my cardiologist concerning my heart condition. Do you think this is going to be an issue? And if it is do you think the drilling department would request and receive an exception. I was told by my interviewer that they really need experienced drilling people.

Thanks for the reply! I had also heard that even if the doctor clears me, once in the country I'll have to redo the x-ray for my Iqama and at that point could get rejected. Is there special sway if an exemption is granted? Having never gone through this process, I may be not have my facts straight on who approves what. Hopefully they'll take into consideration the reasoning for my scarring ... will know in the next couple of weeks. Thanks again!

Dreeder, Of course no one on this forum can give you a definitive answer. We can only guess. The doctor doing the medical review will make his decision after receiving the additional information. Which is a normal request.
There are people here who have had stents put in while here. I do not know if anyone has come with one, but I would guess, not knowing all the details, it wouldn't necessarily be a problem.
If they are in need of your skills set, then the department can ask for an exception. It can be approved or turned down at that point also.
