A question just occurred to me. As there are about 500 units in Rakah and all of these have kids, how many buses go to the Aramco school each morning? Surely, not all kids going that way could get in one bus?

Thanks GW,
A small follow up. What's the length of bus commute from Rakkah to BISAK? How does that compare with bus from Dahran to BISAK (assuming there is a bus).

There is no bus from Rakah to BISAK provided by Aramco. The journey is about 20 mins by taxi. I don't know of any parents who use BISAK here. This is not a reflection on the school, but on availability of transport. Some kids go to the french school which is close to BISAK: the parents organise a taxi pool.
I am not aware of any BISAK/Dharhan bus service either.

The Indian school is very close to Rakkah. However there is currently no Aramco buses that go there.

Well, I guess my mind must be playing tricks on me, I'm sure I read a post discussing how the DBGS bus from Rakah had started taking a lot longer because they'd decided to include another school (which I took to be BISAK) on the same run. As I recalled it, the post then went on to say that they had restored the previous bus routes with separate buses so the timings were back to normal.
I can't find that post now - maybe I imagined it?

I recall seeing something a bit along those lines, myself. Apologies for jumping so quickly on this issue thus increasing the publicity.

Your memory is not deceiving you: there is a thread "Rakah for older Kids" which tells of the bus journey being lengthened to include extra stops. BISAK was not the extra part of the route though: I have been informed locally that the additional drops were at schools in Dhahran - ie they tried one bus for all kids including Dhahran Hills etc. The original service has now resumed.

My apologies I accidentally deleted this post. I was able to recover it, but not who posted it.
Not all the units in Rakah compound are full and I'm fairly sure not all the families there have kids. Of those that do, not all the kids go to the Aramco schools in main camp - don't forget some kids go to the pre-school in Rakah. Last I heard, there were two buses from Rakah to the Aramco schools, one to the Hills School and one to the 3rd St School. Assuming they use the "normal" full-size school buses, each bus can hold up to 45 kids. There are also buses that go to the two British schools, DBGS and BISAK.
There may also be kids who go to other schools, I seem to remember a post from someone asking about Indian International schools and how close any of them were to Rakah.

Just to confirm there is no bus to BISAK (or the French school which is next door to BISAK) from Rakah. School buses go to two locations: 1. from Rakah to the Aramco schools on main camp, and 2. From Rakah to the ISG schools compound which includes DBGS, DEMS and DHS (Dhahran High School). If your children go to BISAK you will need to use a taxi for the 15 minute ride, which a few families do. The reason that Aramco provides buses to DBGS but not BISAK is that DBGS is colocated with DHS. Aramcon children normally go to DHS when they have outgrown the Saudi Aramco schools, unless they go out of kingdom.
On the subject of Rakah, the compound is half full. Not all houses have children, some have couples, some have grown up children living elsewhere who may visit, and some have employees waiting for family to arrive. On avee there are 1.6 children per house. They have plenty to do: tennis, soccer, Zumbakids, girl and boy scouts, swimming clubs and various younger childrens' activities are now established and thriving, with other clubs coming shortly.

I don't think that's the reason, especially considering that Aramco provided a bus from main camp to DBGS long before the DHS raised the age of its classes. In the past, DHS didn't go beyond 10th grade and very few Aramco children went there, but there was a bus to DBGS anyway.
As far as I can tell, it's to do with the number of parents wanting their children to go there. The company will often alter or add bus services, based on demand. I suspect that if a large enough number of people were to request it, they company might provide a bus to BISAK.
For instance, the shopping buses did not previously go to the LuLu hypermarket on the Corniche. As it became popular and more and more people asked for it, the shopping buses started going there.
