I have been reading the forum over the last six weeks with great interest. I have one grave concern that relo can't address. I received a hint that numbers are swelling faster than services when told we should apply to DHS immediately (before clearing BI, Visa, Med) for our daughter because of DHS' "current high enrollment".
Large numbers of employees are being hired in a very short time. (My husband was told in his interview the group he is joining will add around 100 people this year and added about that number last year.) Even assuming just a quarter of those people will be expats and have an avee of 2 dependents, this translates into an incredibly large number of people moving into company housing in Dhahran with all their attendant needs for just one area of the company.
* How is the company assimilating all these people both into the company and into the living compounds?
SA heavily advertises their beautiful amenities and schools, but I can't help but wonder how these facilities are going to handle the large influx of people. Might someone take a stab at addressing these concerns?
1. Have schools been enlarged? Additional teachers hired or are classes sizes just increasing? If increasing, what's the avee class size for 6 - 8 grade now? What is anticipated over the next few years?
2. Are the medical/dental/vision facilities and staff being increased to address the increased demand? What is the avee wait for a non-acute medical appt? What is the policy and wait for an acute situation (ie: child with strep or a sports injury)? Do they have "sick appointments" or are you sent to urgent care?
3. How is this growth impacting the clubs (golf, yacht, swim, riding)? Are waiting times longer? Are clubs just cutting off membership at a certain size? (I saw in one post the large number of kids that went out for the swim team in Rakah. How was that managed?)
Thanks so much for your help.
