Sorry if this question seems a bit strange. I note that there are lots of activities on the various camps. But how many are true "family" activities?
For example, swimming is a family activity but if there are separate swimming times for men and women then it is not possible for this to be a "family" activity, if you see what I mean, Maybe I have misunderstood something but any observations on this subject and the reality of "family" life would be welcome.
Thanks
Keith

I think all the times for the swimming pool is family time, but sometimes they schedule time for women only to allow the Muslim women time to swim, since most Muslim women would feel uncomfortable swimming when men are there. (I don't think in UDH there is any women only time for the pool because there are no female life guards.)
All of the activities scheduled by recreation are for families, except we have one event every year for ladies only (no kids even). Most of the women's group activities are for the women only, but they do some events that include the whole community. For example, in UDH we have an annual curry cook-off, a cake tasting event, a trip to the beach, and two souks which are all family events.

There are family pools in DHA, ABQ and RT. (DHA's family pools are family all the time. RT also has the beach - families. ABQ and DHA's beach is a bus/car ride away - families. Single men or men alone without their wife and/or kids cannot get into the family pools. Ladies and children can be there without the husband/dad. In DHA, there are men's only and women only pools and a lap pool that both can use, its both es at the same time.
Families can participate in sports activities: children/youth sports, coed Adult sports, also martial arts and others. The whole family can play tennis, soccer, softball, basketball, etc. adults teams and children's teams.
