Hi,
I have just been looking at the prohibited items for shipping. In particular the passage relating to human and animal figurines. How does this relate to children's toys? I see three categories:
1. Toys that don't really look like real creatures. Say, for example, Tellytubbies 2. Soft toys that look like animals etc but clearly aren't real. Teddy bears, soft cuddly dogs etc. 3. Dolls. I.e. Barbie etc
Has anyone had any trouble with bringing in the above? I read also that there is Toys R Us in the region so, for comparison, does that stock any of the above?
Many thanks

Everyone's experience is different, but for us, we had zero issues on the toy brought in country. Our shipment landed in December 2013 and was at our doorstep about 2 weeks later with all the stuffed animals, dolls, and various mish mash pre-schollers acquire.
As for Toy-R-Us, they have a decent selection of nearly any toy you might see in the US or Canada, though they are usually 6+ months behind on the latest crazes. There are a couple other options for toy sores as well. Just know that prices on licensed toys are MUCH higher. But if the brand doesn't matter you can get knockoffs for cheap.

Thanks very much GKSB.
Just to clarify. The three categories of toys/figures that I identified above are each available at Toys R Us? My point is that if on sale within Kingdom then there is mo logical reason for exclusion/confiscation.

Abandon all logic before coming to the Kingdom . Bring whatever toys you want. If the customs guy decides to keep it, just smile and wave.

The information we had during our orientation about what toys were allowed into KSA and what is available to buy in toy shops seems extremely out of date. Almost every type of toy that is available elsewhere is available here. Just bring them all with you.

Ikea has heaps of soft toys. Toys R us has heaps of dolls... We packed all of ours, still waiting to receive shipment though
Toys R Us also sells chess sets contrary to the import information we were provided with.

Maursh, did your shipment come through yet? If so, was it unscathed?
I confess that I am concerned about the level of fines that I might occur with all the stuff that comes in with the kids. Has anyone had any trouble with farm sets? Are they available at IKEA and Toys R Us?

I've had items confiscated by customs as have other people I know but I have never heard of fines being levied.

Thanks all and apologies for labouring this.
My six year old daughter has dozens and dozens of small toy animals - imagine a farm set with reasonably realistic animals. Has anyone brought anything like that in with no trouble?
Thanks

Yes, we have small animal sets too. We have had all kinds of toys sent by mail and also brought in our luggage. Like everyone said, Toys R Us and all the toy stores are selling all kinds of toys here. The only sort of toys I think you might have issues with are magic sets or Ouija boards...things of that nature.
