Alright, so I've been doing a bunch of reading on here over the past several weeks and the one thing that I can't seem to figure out is any correlation between position/department/nationality/GC/Status (Family vs. Bachelor)/etc. and the community that people live in. With as large of an organization as Saudi Aramco is I have to think that there is some sort of rhyme or reason as to why certain people go to certain communities.
Does any one here know of what type of correlation is used in determining who goes where and why?
There's gotta be some sort of reason for this...

Yes
US passport holders in a high grade code will be first in line to get Dhahran housing if their work assignment is in DH. Lower professionals might get told that DH is full and placed (temporary status) in other communities. I have seen this happen first hand to a grade 11 US employee....placed in RT and on the 5.40am bus to work everyday...back home at 5.20ish.....nice if/when your family is there with you waiting for you to get home........and its spring and lovely beach weather.
In saying all that......DH is full as is RT and ABQ........next will be RAKA and we need more housing at Aramco.

The priority list for housing is as follows as per the IR Manual, in ranked order
1. Female employees, US Payroll employees, teachers, physicians 2. Grade code 15+ employees 3. Grade code 11-14 core critical skills employees 4. Other grade code 11-14 employees

I have to say I consider this forum an unvaluable resource. The moderators do an amazing and kind effort in provide to clueless people as myself (lol) information that makes a huge difference in the decision making proccess that involves accepting an offer to work in this "Monster" that is Aramco. This is my first post and I wanted to say thanks, so thanks.
Comment regarding housing policy not intended to offend, but to yze current conditions involving future staff in O&G departments - edited by myself

Just saying, the doctor who is on call, they all take call, needs to be within minutes of the hospital. They rotate through the evening clinic. Personally, I want my doctors nearby.
I doubt the other oil companies you have worked for had its own hospital, medical clinics and facilities.

Like I said, all respect, did not mean offense, just said oil people being in the same priority position that doctors and teachers. I also believe they need to be as close to the medical facilities as they could. Is possible that there are not the logistical conditions to implement a wider housing assignment policy and people as limited as me may not understand it, and fine, that is the way it is. I think what I said should not be taken as a disrespect to doctors or teachers, I hope people got my point. Not intend to disrespect contributors or moderators either, Im going to keep checking the contents everyday. And probably my limited understanding would improve if I got the chance to experience life there, Insh

I did not think you were being disrespectful. My apologies if my response made you feel that way.
