for those who are about to ship their stuff and finished packing, i have one important tip for you. once the boxes are packed and labeled, get a large colored marker (red or orange) or even a spray paint and mark the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4,…on all boxes. make a log of contents for each box. This will make it easy for you to detect any missing boxes. I lost two boxes only after the fact as the process of unloading the boxes in your house can easily get out of control….just a suggestion.

Things can get unpacked and displaced into other containers at customs. We found things showing up in crates I know for certain they weren't packed with originally.

Thnx vimto for the info.
Have related questions. Do customs ppl open the boxes in presence of the flyers? Also where boxes have been sealed with brown adhesive tapes and harnessed with rope, do customs ppl care to reseal the boxes? Is keeping extra tapes in boxes a good idea?
Thnx JaiHind

When you receive your shipment, ask people you have come to know to be there and help keep track of the boxes as they come off the truck.
Label everything in your shipment with your name, badge number, c/o Saudi Aramco and the compound you are going to. It helps if your shipment is searched and boxes opened and contents removed. You can print this information on return address labels and removable file folder labels (for things you do not want a permanent sticker on, print information twice on each label and cut in two.
