Hi....any heads up on car insurance.
Tawaniya sent me renewal details and they have dropped their Aramco deal and the premium is 33% higher.....
Anybody know of other companies that offer good value?
Thanks

My quote from Tawunyia had gone up to 2200SR so I visited Axa and I had the same level of covee for about 1500SR.
They have a small office right near the entrance of Panda in Dhahran mall.

My apologies for my ignorance, but is 1500 SR a month or per year? Just trying to have a sense on what to expect once I move there. Thanks, Cgyguy

Per year I suspect. You can also try ACE insurance. Or if you don't want to bother with comprehensive insurance, you can also just take 3rd Party insurance from ACE for SAR410 a year.

One thing to note about Tawaniya is that they WILL NOT cover anyone without a Saudi licence. This includes women, returning students etc.
I have cancelled my Tawaniya policy as a result of this and have gone with Ace Insurance.
Many people do not know this as Tawaniya have chosen not to advise their policy holders. I am sure there are many people on camp driving with Tawaniya policies thinking they have cover, when they don't.

I went with AXA full comprehensive at Dhahran Mall. Saudi plus Bahrain cover only...some sort of breakdown service.......car value 65,000........policy cost 2,680 SAR.

I would encoue everyone to join the AAA (Arabian Auto Assoc) on camp. If you join for 120 SR a year, you can buy discounted insurance. I just got full covee for 680 SR per year. Added on BAH for 60 SR. (for a 25,000 SR car)

I'm in the process of buying a vehicle and while I have not a definite pick I'm leaning towards a vehicle with a price around 120,000 SAR. The salesperson told me that because I work for Aramco I have a discount with Tawaniya and that he has the prices there handy, and the insurance person will come before closing the deal, and so far the insurance cost is almost 9,000 SAR with almost everything like GCC, price match if totalled, car replacement and dealer repaired.
I told him that it seems too high and he mentioned that just about two weeks ago the premiums were increased by ministry order from 4 to 6%, I still feel to be taken for a ride.
I will definitely check other options but would like your comments on recent premium increases and if it worth to pay an additional 30% to have the car repaired directly by the dealership.
Thanks,
Cgyguy

Is anyone insuring through USAA? I just found out that they provide auto insurance for Saudi. Some have suggested it is good to find a way to keep covee in the US current to ensure that you are not seen as a new driver when you come back to the states. This would do that but I imagine it's cost a lot more than what is available in locally in Saudi.

Just got an apples-to-apples quote today for comprehensive car insurance: car value: 160000 SR deductible: 2000 SR Dealer parts option for repairs ACE insurance: 4812 SR AXA (i.e. AAA) without ARAMCO discount: 5566 SR I would assume the ARAMCO discount is 2-5%, but havent found out the exact discount.
