Just a couple of "detail" questions if anyone would be so kind.
1. I understand that the accommodation in Rakkah is equipped with TV service (although not, of course, a TV). What is the nature of this service? Cable? What programmes are included in the default and what can be added by choice?
2. The kitchen comes equipped with a refrigerator. What about a freezer?
Many thanks

1. Every house receives a free TV package that includes 60 channels (30 air-free and 30-paid through OSN) search OSN .
2. Have to buy your own 2cd fridge or freezer
I will be moving to Rakkah 3rd week February, so residents can correct me.

Fridge / freezer comes with the accomodation (oversized, US style)
I can't comment on the TV since we shipped ours so it's not here yet. The list provided with the welcome pack is of 60 OSN channels - no indication that any are pay for. There are few UK channels - things such as "BBC Entertainment"

The OSN 60 channels is an Aramco package. So you might could pay an additional amount for a premium package with more channels.
The buy it yourself packages are: Family: 38 channels Entertainment: 52 channels Entertainment Plus: 64 channels OSN Pinoy Plus: 39 channels OSN Pehla Variety: 35 channels OSN Pehla Spice Plus: 29 channels OSN Pehla Prime: 47 channels Premium: 75 channels Premium HD: 85 channels Platinum HD: 95 channels

Hi there, We will be relocating form the USA in a month or so. We are in the process of getting our visas. My biggest concern is that we'll be coming with a 2 months old baby, and wanted to know if baby supplies are easily available? We definitely appreciate any suggestion from moms what to pack and what not to, and I guess how much of it? We are told we are going to Rakkah. Thanks

I was wondering if there is any soccer channel in the TV line up? Thanks

Baby items are available here. If there is something you really like your brand, then you should consider bringing a few months supply until you can see what you can buy here.
There is a lot of soccer on TV.

Thanks a bunch vpainter. With Rakkah being on the shore line, do we need to worry about insects and mosquitos? I guess we will need insect and mesquite repellents. I am sure they do have insect repellent in the stock, but not sure if infant grade repellents (with less concentration or natural products) are easily available?

You will need a separate package for English Premier League/FA Cup & Champions League matches

Mashfamily, definitely bring your supply of infant repellent.
Although, living in Dhahran for 13+ years, I have never had to wear repellant in DHA. We have mosquitos, they just do not bite: at least not me and our jeep has the windows off and they congregate inside during the season. So when you get in, they swarm around you, but have never bitten me even in shorts. Although I have worn repellent in RT which is also on the coast.

"Infant Repellent" (and sincere thanks for all your answers across various fora today - seems you have gone into overdrive)

Keith317, Mashfamily will have to tell you about infant grade insect repellent. There was no such thing when my kids were little.

I use Mosiguard, a natural repellent, which is a recommended for adults and children over 3 months. It is tested by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. The main ingredient is Citriodiol ( lemon eucalyptus ). I have used Mosiguard for nearly 20 years and it is very effective. On a Dhahran Outing Group trip to Zambia we all used Mosiguard and even the tsetse flies wouldn't land on us. I still use it on visits to India and Africa. I stopped using the normal repellents containing deet when a bottle leaked and ate through the plastic in my camera bag! I used to buy it in Boots and Superdrug, but they no longer stock it. This is the Mosiguard site which shows where you can buy it - mosi-guard.com/ If you are still in the UK, they have an online shop and you can also find it on Amazon.

As for the mosquito question, they have been doing fogging" here on Rakkah, so that may kill a lot of them.
