o all,
I am going thru the recruitment process and although my written offer says I would be in Dhahran I was told that most likely I will be located in Abqaiq (I wonder how do you pronounce it). I would like to know how much is the cost of using the gym and the use of the sports facilities. Are there personal trainers in the gym, how much do they charge?
From reading the posts I got the idea that the WIFI in the houses is provided by Aramco free of charge, is that right?
Thank you for your help ...

It's the other way round: use of the gym is free and sports facilities ditto (albeit some SDG's charge membership fees and sometimes there are restrictions on non-SDG use of certain facilities) internet on any of the main compounds is not free and will cost you $40 per month (only Ar-Rakkah has free internet).

Besides Rakkah, internet (DSL) is free in Abqaiq as well.

Is that a sure thing MAW? DSL is included in the housing cost for Abqaiq? This is the first that I have heard or read about it; I understood that dial-up was included, but that it was necessary we purchase DSL as an add-on. One that I am sure everyone would want...

I'm living in Abqaiq since December 1st and I understood that DSL is provided for free. Haven't received any charges for it either.

Thanks to you both, then. I am expecting to join you at the end of February, insh. Is it something that you had to request or was it simply there and ready when you arrived?

LOL! How unfair! We pay for it in DHA. We can only drive our golf carts to play golf as well. Perks for living in other compounds.

I will be sure to rub it in as much as possible, vpainter! Along with anything else that I (we) may find to distinguish ABQ from DHA; anything at all that separates ABQ from the other compounds. Maybe a little compound compeion that highlights the positives rather than the perceived drawbacks. One point for ABQ already.

Golf carts allowed on the road in RT, paying for DSL.
But we have the beach...

MAW & FlyRobin1, You mean the DSL and wifi router is ready when you arrived at the compound? May I know what is the internet speed? Dhahranians, what would you rather have, free internet or significantly shorter commute time to work?

You will have to arrange it once you arrive in camp. Sometimes theres a delay , so you will jave to be persistent. Speed is approx - 50-70 mbps. I can usually download files at 5-600 kbps.
