I was wondering how the air and water quality compared to the states? I've read some online about Saudi having much more pollution in the air and it causing diseases, etc. My husband has been applying to Aramco and we were very hopeful for him to get a job with them, but after reading a bit more online, I became a bit concerned about it all. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Sweet water in the camps is equivalent to the municipal water in the USA, in fact it tastes better than some I've had, like in Waco, TX. Many people choose to drink bottled water and some have the large water dispensers in their homes and the commissary delivers the water bottles.
Air quality is ok, especially clean after the rain like we are having today. When sickness or respiratory problems occur is when the schmals (sand storms) come in. We wear 3M N95 particulate masks during those times with no problems, those can be brought in - ordered online- or bought here in the souq area.

If you or family members have asthma, be sure to arrive with enough medicines to last a couple of months until you settle in and establish a relationship with a physician. The school nurse is kept rather busy with a large drawer filled with young kids' rescue inhalers at school. It does not need to be the dusty season for asthmatics to suffer rapid and potentially severe attacks. Many factors contribute, including humidity, pollen, abrupt changes in air temp inside/outside, and occasional petroleum smells in the air. If you have a need for a nebulizer, bring it.
