o everyone,
I am due to make a move to KSA any moment from now on family status. I am just curious to find out from anyone that recently made a move (ie say within the last 2-3 weeks) on family status. I will like to know which camp is currently being used to house new hires on family status.I have read so many posts on here about accomodation and the issues around availability.
So any recent first hand information will be highly appreciated.

If you are working for Aramco, your offer told you where you will live. Families live in all the compounds. Many are going to ABQ and Rakah currently.
If you do not know where you will be living - are you a contract employee?

Vpainter,
Thanks for your response. I will be working directly for Aramco. It has not been confirmed in which of the camps we are to live. I am aware that some candidates that were advised had their camp changed a few days to departure
It is therefore not clear if perhaps there are no family type accomodation available at this time hence no advise of the camp we are to live. Also I am aware that the housing department back in the KSA need to confim housing availability before a new hire can be advised to relocate.

Your offer letter should have specified a work location and residence location. What did your offer say? Did you sign acceptance on an offer that didn't specify location?
If you have questions about your offer, including housing, I advise you to discuss immediately with your recruitment specialist, and not base your decision about relocating on that of a handful of new hires who might happen to participate in this forum. How far are you in the process of clearing contingencies?
Nothing with the recruitment/relocation process is 100% identical between new hires, and there are constantly changing variables. What might have happened with one or more people may have been a one-time issue or a frequent occurrence.
What is your recruiter saying, exactly? When is s/he expecting to confirm details for you?

Hadia,
Yes the offer specify the work location as RT, however for residence it only stated that this will be within commuting distance from the work location.
I have done BI, visa medical and got visa just waiting for the move.
I have asked questions from my adviser on the issue of the residence earlier in the process and the response she gave was that it will be within a commuting distance just as it is stated in the offer.
So at this stage of the process my expectation has been that housing location should now be comfirmed. However because everything was coming near the end of the year in 2013 when most people will be going on holidays, I knew a few things may slip into early January when people will be back.
