o, I have been extended an offer for a job in Dhahran. My wife is a physician and I am an engineer. I have several questions.
1. I believe that my wife cannot get a job with family status. Can she be hired under single status and still live with our family on the compound? In that case would she be paid a lower salary and get fewer benefits?
2. Is it easy to find a high quality nanny and/or housekeeper in Dhahran? How much would we be looking at spending on a weekly basis? We have three young children.
3. My offer includes 42 days of leave a year and 11 holidays. Is that considered normal? Do we receive business or economy tickets for our annual tickets back to the states?
4. Is there anything important I should know that I might be missing?
Thank you.
Colin

1) your wife would have to apply after she arrives in kingdom. Her application would ask her marital status and it would be a lie if she stated she was single. She would be paid a fair wage, the benefits would just come through the husband.
2) many people have houseboys, they are about 25SR/ hour, you decide number of hours and days. Maids, not live in, are about the same with the number of hours they work determined by their transportation. Hourly rate about the same. Live in maids/nannies are sponsored by going through HR after you arrive. Can take 3 or 4 months to go through the process.
3) fares are full fare round trip economy tickets.

Thank you very much. We are excited about this opportunity but it will be a large change for us. I will plan on it taking 4 months to get through the process of hiring a nanny. We would need a nanny of course before my wife can work.

You should also plan on the time it will take for you to be comfortable leaving your kids alone with a new nanny. You will want to get to know them first and teach her your routines and parenting methods.
