Hero55,
I understand your conserns about family not being able to travel with you since I share the same ones. What exactly have you been told that makes your conserns bigger regarding this, besides the possibility that when released the visa block only includes you ? Housing in my case it's not that important cause I'm used to have projects away from home, as long as my family are comfortable and safe, for me any location is fine, even if I have a couple of ones that are obvious of my preference. It usually takes up to 3 months to get the family there if they're not able to travel with you, that can be a long waiting...
Let's hope for the best.

I do not believe that there is a relationship between the visa blocks and the family visas.

VPainter, re: Offer and Salary negotiation process / Housing
I was first approached by an *external* recruiter for positions with Aramco. He had given me a salary range for the position for which he submitted my resume and credentials.
When I received my initially written offer last August 2013 from my recruiter in ASC--first via email, then followed by overnight FedEx (I'm located in the US)-- the salary was on the lower end of the range---I countered for the top of this range, as I had just received a (verbal) offer by another company. She submitted my requested to DH, and we waited. We waited especially long because it was Aug-Sept, Ramadan, and many people on Holiday. So, it was actually 5 weeks before I received my approved counter offer--again, via email and overnight by FedEx. I signed and sent back via FedEx in the envelope they provided.
As far as housing, because I am a single female, my housing is very specific. When we discovered last fall that there was a housing shortage in DH, my manager in DH was exploring temporary housing for me in RT or Rakkah until such time housing was available in DH; until we discovered that housing wasn't the reason for my delay, but my Visa le.
I've been told that housing in DH is now available for me in the area of single female housing.

What is the difference between visa block and visa le? Is receiving a visa le for a person means they already have a visa lined up this person?
Any help is greatly appreciated...
Regards

Visa blocks are groups of visa les. A visa le is a visa for an employee issued with the job le for that employee.

Additionally and as far as I understand from relocation representative. Visa le should match your job, nationality and point of visa application (from where you are going to apply)

I have also been informed to redo my medicals. There has been no word on the much anticipated visa block.

Hero55: also GENDER, is what I recently learned from the Visa Control Coordinator in Houston.

Which is the route/time for visa block, once approved by saudi govmt to Aramco offices, and than to be communicated to new hired? Thanks

I would venture that gender would be a small but critical detail

ritzkool: any info from your relo advisor on Visa block? You mentioned 'very soon' last time.

Hi Washingtonian,
Well, like I said earlier, I don't know how soon is "very soon". It is already mid week and so far - zero news from my relo advisor. If we don't hear anything by tomorrow, then we'll have to renew our hopes again next week and the cycle of hope repeats itself like a worn out recording of a favourite song. Saudi working days only overlap four days with the rest of the world. And that's just the tip of the iceberg....

Greeting from Jakarta, It's been very enthusiastic recently with this specific subject 'visa block'. I am checking twice minimum every day to get any update this topic from everyone here. My relo advisor contacted me through email yesterday and said there still no news regarding the visa block. She said she will let me know when she get word. My original plan for moving on 26th April, that seems will be shifted. For now I think we have to just enjoy the time waiting, looking any update and it will be one of us sending good news to all when it comes. Because when it release, time will cut very fast for us to get mobilize there. Cheers

Agreed ritzkool. I was just hoping to cling on to new hope. Medical expiring this week. Relo advisor has no clue, it's been long since I got an update from ASC. I am almost into six months of the overall process.
