It seems there is a new req from the Saudi Embassy in Ottawa for Canadians to get the degree attested (I thought this was already there) and to submit the Police Clearance Certificate before a VISA can be stamped. Another hurdle in the loooong process

I just got hit with this new process in December. My passports were returned to ASC Houston pending the completion of these new requisites. The police clearance will take a couple of weeks. The degree attestation, who knows....

Pat1703,
I was informed yesterday about this after asking my relo post after reading this post, she came back with this new request, so I called the RCMP and they informed me that for no fingerprints check I needed, in my case, to go to Calgary Police. They gave me 4 to 5 weeks until I received such clearance
Anyone in the forum with already experience receiving said clearances from any Canadian police force, how long it took, can you share if it was RCMP or which Police force?
Thank you,
Cgyguy

We are in Canada and got our police clearance at the end of August and it took 1 week. We just went to our local police station and paid $25 each, filled in the request form. It was straight forward and they contacted us once they had received all the checks back. Hope this helps.....

This helps a lot indeed. We were told three weeks by the commissionaires in Calgary, but will try the local police again.

Pat1703, We went to Calgary Police headquarters in the NE and the lady told us 4 to 5 weeks  I was wondering if we should request it again somewhere else.
The RCMP referred me to our local police for this clearance. What did you do? Where did you request it? What timing they gave you?
Thanks Cgyguy

If you do the digial finger prints - should only take 3-5 days per their website. They have office in Calgary and they are authorised agent. See website. www.reliabilityscreening.com/eng ... ting.shtml

We did ours from an agency in Toronto last Friday. Yet to receive the reports. The person said that just police report without fingerprints takes 3-4 hours and with finger prints takes about 5 -7 business days and that for Saudi we require the fingerprint based check.
Edit: Rcvd the RCMP clearance letter today (Jan 03) by mail. Took 1 week including the holidays.

Hmz.......I would suggest you clarify with your BI contact in Houston to confirm whether or not the email format will be acceptable to them; the package says "send your Police clearance in a Police sealed envelope, do not open it". I applied for mine sometime in early Dec, and was told it would take 4-6 wks too and this is the 4th week running. From the look of things, the preliminary BI process will still continue pending the submission of your Police clearance..........

Deejay, We didn't get an email, we got the original paper stamped by RCMP via Canada post. I opened it to make sure that it had the right info, I wasn't aware that they can not be opened. I have sent them to ASC, I guess I will just have to wait.

Hmz.............You should be fine in that case. What's the agent's website and how much did it cost? I read online that the paper mode will be discontinued effective July of this year.

Deejay, The paper fingerprints are the ones that will be dicontinued in July of this year. In Canada only digital fingerprints will be taken for any background request.
In my case, my Relo, told me that only name check was necessary but after reading this post I went and request the digital fingerprint check as well.
Reds,
Cgyguy
