o, My Husband has just received his offer and the Relocation Agent has advised that accomodation will be Abqaiq (he will be working in Dhahran) - and the reason for this is that Dhahran Camp and Rakkah are for GC15 and above only. Is this true - it sounds pretty unlikely from what i have read.... Grateful for your thoughts. Thanks

There ARE GC requirements? I thought all compounds were GC11+.

All Aramco compounds (DHA,RT,ABQ, UDH) except Rakah have all GCs living there, even below GC 11 in their residence areas. Rakah is family status only and there are guidelines they use and some of them are GC related for living in Rakah.

Prior to November 1, 2013 your relocation advisor would have been partly correct in that it would have required out-of policy approval for a GC 15- expat male employee in any payroll other than US/C to be assigned family camp housing in Dhahran. However, according to the policy changes announced on Nov 1, all GC 11+ expatriate male employees (all payrolls) are now eligible for family status.
This policy applies equally to all the main family camps (DH, RT, ABQ, UDH). Rakkah may be a slightly different case as, according to vpainter, it does not follow exactly the same guidelines.
As far as I am aware, the main reason people working in Dhahran are being housed in Abqaiq is because of a shortage of available housing in the Dhahran family camp, not because of grade code.
