Hi everyone
My partner stb hubby has applied for an Industrial skills Trainer position.
My first question is what would be the approximate grade for this? Is it likely he would be offered family status if successful?
Which brings me to my next question although we have a son together I also have two children from a previous marriage we live as a family and the children look upon my partner as their father. Their surname is different from my stb spouse ( ex husband will not allow it to be changed) would this cause any problems for us as I notice the terms used in some descriptions are "employees immediate family" well technically my kids are not related to the potential employee so anyone know how we would stand?
Many thanks

The employee's step children (once you are married) can come. KSA requires the other parent's signature on a form stating they can come to KSA, or a court order stating they can come. At least that is how it was when we came in 2001.
We had trouble getting the step child visa because of no blood relation to the employee. They wanted the wife to be in kingdom with a resident visa and iqama prior to approving it, because she was the blood relative of the child. But at the last minute we got approval, the department got involved in getting the approvals.
Your husband will need to bring up the fact he has step children and they need to come with you.

We came to KSA 2 1/2 years ago with a step-child. We had to show court judgement indicating the KSA-bound parent has full physical custody, and non-custodial parent had to sign/get notarized a permission letter which is one of the new hire pieces of documentation that is provided upon request. Upon arrival, we experienced numerous mix-ups and omissions because of one dependent child having different last name from siblings. It required extra errands to various offices to fix these problems. Things leveled out after the first year.

Thanks so much for your replies it's much appreciated. I feel a bit better now knowing it is possible.
Any ideas on my first question as to the potential position being of a high enough grade to be awarded family status?
I remember my father being a grade 11 (30 years ago) and he was not awarded family status. What grade does family status start for a Brit these days ?

GC 11 + is eligible for family status. Every position is assigned a GC, when he receives his offer, it will state what GC he will be. Unfortunately, because he is not married at the time of the application, the offer will be for Single Status. It can be changed during the hiring process if he gets married. He may or may not have to come first and then apply for your visas.
