Hi.. I got so much information from this forum. Thanks so much for all the postings. Just had a question about arrival. I am aware that we will be picked up from DMM airport etc but I'm trying to figure out how much local currency I will need at the airport - Porters need to be paid 5-10 riyals per bag.. Got that How about the cab ride? Will that be taken care of by Aramco or are we responsible for it? If we are, can someone provide the approximate amount so we can be prepared. Thank you!

Maybe you saw it, but someone here viewtopic.php?f=13&t=123723 recommended at least SR 2000. Update: we initially got $100usd ( I think) in sr at the Amsterdam airport with a bad exchange rare. My husband later got money out I think by check on the Dhahran compound and I think for a good exchange rate...

When we arrived, a taxi had already been arranged and prepaid for us. However, there was no way five people, 10 Shipping boxes and 10 carryons were going to fit in one taxi. We got a van taxi at the last minute and paid for it ourselves. It was a few hundred riyals factoring in tips for porters, taxis, and taxi fare for the van.

I am told that there would be one big car (SUV) to pick up the family and luggage. However, if you believe that you will need additional car(s), then I have been given number for the taxi service that you need to arrange with them. I am told that the taxi fare is reimbursable. (taxi service +966 13 802 8909

Worth a try to book Majestic or Samara (4x4 ... Yukon etc) if you believe you will need extra taxis. They are official taxis for Saudi Aramco and very professional. PM me if you need their numbers.
