Hi, my husband got his visa and ticket and it seems that we are ready for the move, he goes first just before New Year, and our two kids (5 yo girl and 3,5 yo boy ) and I moving in January. I am Russian and my husband is British, moving from UK, so all advise are welcome. My main question is what clothes do I pack for kids, as I assume that they will have to go straight to school/ nursery, do they have uniform or is it free style? ( also shoes ,sandals or boots?) Also have a question about DVDs and toys, does custom control goes through kids DVDs? I am worrying that Barbie's DVD might not look suitable and I do not want to upset custom and my daughter if they take it away. Does any of ladies here travelled alone with kids? Any advise on arrival? How much excess luggage did you have? Sorry for so many random questions!!! I am really exited and looking forward to make new friends, wishing everyone ,who is on their move too , good luck!

I'll answer the part about school. It depends on where you send the kids to scholl. If you are sending them to the Aramco School, there is no uniform so they can wear normal clothes (maybe some layers as it does get cold in the morning during the "winter") If you are sending them to the British School (if your family are posted in Dhahran/Rakah), then they have school uniforms (which is probably easier as you don't have to fight with the kids about what to wear )

Also wanted to ask if there any piano teachers living or moving to Abqaiq as I would like to continue my lessons. If someone has contact please let me know. Another question about shipment - which shipping company did you use coming from UK , as we are thinking to do e boxes shipment . Also if anyone has kids the same age as ours ( 5 yo girl and 3 yo boys ) and would like to make new friends - please contact me ! Thank you, Yana

If no one answers here about piano teachers, visit the Community Information Center once you arrive and they may have a list of teachers.

Hi! I have lived in ABQ for two years and currently teach at the school. As for piano teachers, we have on leads who has started teaching lessons and she works in the K3 program at school. I'm not sure if she has any current openings, however. Some families go to DHA each week for lessons. Hope that helps.

I can share my experience as i travelled alone with a 3 months old baby. It was a smooth journey . I travelled via KLM. If there are any stop overs during your flight then i would suggest you to book a golf car to pick you up and take you to your gate . With babies amd hand carry it will get v tiring otherwise. My plane stopped at amsterdam for 2 hours and cart was of great help as my gate was totally at the other end. also if possible try to check in all your lugagge and stay light , keep minimum hand carry . I had 2 hand carry and i had diffixculty carrying all . Luckily while boarding the klm advisor checked in my hand carry for free. Hope this helps! Have a safe flight and good luck.
