o.. we are tentatively schedule to arrive in Rakah on December 30. My wife wants to visit the compound before our move. We are in the Kingdom now. Is there any one who will be kind enough to arrange this visit. Aramco relocation advisor is unable to do so as they have not done such visits before. We will be arriving this friday (December 13) and staying one night returning saay.

Thank you vpainter. How full is the rakah compound now. I understand there are total of 520 or so homes.

Over 100, but honestly do not know. Hopefully a Rakah resident will let you know.

Around 150 families to date and 8-10 families are moving in every week. Expected to be full by the end of April 2014. SZAS.

Comment from a Rakah Resident: - although there are new families coming seemingly every day, many of the streets have yet to complete their renovation and so full by April 2014 is highly optimistic. The end of the year is more realistic. Having said that, the sooner you arrive, the closer your house will be to all the facilities. The compound suddenly seems to have come to life and people are getting imaginative with things like back gardens and interior painting. It's really interesting to see houses become individual homes.

Thank you Catherinete - Is there a process to request a home closer to the central facilities before you move to the compound, if so, how do we go about it. Thanks

All homes are assigned depending on availability during the week of your arrival. No one can request initial housing.

V Painter is right - the system is rigorous and fair - whoever turns up next gets the next house on the list. The compound isn't very large anyway - I use my bike or borrow one of my boys scooters!
