Good Morning, I am currently undergoing the application vetting process and have been advised that if successful i will be relocated to Abqaiq although working in Dhahran. My main question is how does a person get between the two centres initially without a car? Also can someone let me know what the accommodation is like in Abqaiq? How easy is it to obtain a driving licence in Saudi and are cars cheap there?
Sorry for the questions but just wanting to get some more information.
Hope to hear from someone soon.
Regards
Peter

First you can do a search on the forum for cars and find lists people have posted on how much different cars cost. Those prices will still be good.
Aramco provides buses to take employees to work and take them home within a compound and between compounds.
If you have a driver's license from your home country, most country's licenses can be used to get a Saudi driver's license.
Quite a few posts on getting a Saudi driver's license on the forum, you can also do a search on driver's license.

Peter,
don't worry about transport to DHA from ABQ. The company put on buses that take you to work every day. They leave ABQ at circa 5.30am and it takes about 50 mins to get to DHA. The working day tends to end at 3.30 to 4pm and you'll get back to ABQ at 5.30 pm ish.
ABQ is undergoing a major facelift at the moment and the empty houses are all being reconditioned. The houses are really spacious and good to live in. They all have central aircon and your water, electricity, broadband etc are included in your rent each month. This will cost you about £300 total... prices may vary.
Cars are approx. the same price to buy here new as they are elsewhere globally. You can get second hand ones but once you are here you can see cars for sale on the internal classified adds system.
Fuel is dirt cheap. 1 litre of petrol costs approx. 9 UK pence or less for 91 RON. Insurance is based on the cars value and is approx. 3%.
The road to DHA is a nightmare...the locals drive like mad men and are extremely reckless. It is just like a playstation game at time, but you soon tune in
