Hi there,
Hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this.... Job offer accepted mid August and medicals done in early Sept. Background investigation started from a local agency was passed to KSA since we had an enquiry back from there in mid November. The visa le arrived in late November and now the whole family have single entry visas for 90 days and a departure date in December.
However, we still don't have BI and medical clearance and are starting to become concerned. For one thing we can't organise anything and we run the risk of a last minute rush.
Has anyone else had this issue? Most posters on the forum seem to have had BI clearance long before the visa le comes through.

How can the visa be processed before you cleared BI or Medical? The visa processing is the last action prior to arrival. I have not heard of anyone getting their visa if they have not cleared BI or medical.

Thanks Azraeil. I think that certain medical checks would need to be cleared for the visa to be issued, but not necessarily the BI. Also, Aramco's medical clearance might be a different hurdle to that which is required for a visa.
Although a travel date is set, they will not release airline tickets to us until all contingencies are cleared. So it is a definite step which we need to get past.

Our reloc adv didn't tell us we had passed medical/BI until both were done. We were relieved yet annoyed to learn that the medical had cleared weeks earlier, and it was just some BI education verification holding things up. Had we known medical was passed, we would have felt comfortable making final move plans. Instead, that time was wasted fretting. I recommend that you ensure your reloc adv isn't doing something similar. We had to cram everything into two weeks. If you indicated a minimum of notice time required for a present employer, now would be a good time to remind the reloc adv. I do think it's odd that you have visas before BI/medical have cleared. Makes me wonder if they''re already passed, and someone hasn't passed that along. In fact, that's the exact question I'd ask the reloc adv -- how was visa stage cleared already, since that's typically the last contingency to clear.

I think that there is perhaps a confusion between the physical medical exam on the one hand and the health questionnaire/followup medical reports on the other. I believe that the physical medical exam (only) must be passed to obtain a visa, so it is perfectly possible to get a visa without the results of the BI/health questionnaire(s) being complete, although it is unusual.
My advice would be not to make any irreversible decisions until you both have the results of the BI/health questionnaire(s), and Aramco have indicated that it is OK to resign from your current position.

Thanks for all your replies.
We are not on any notice period but did have to send certificates overseas for attestation. These were returned weeks ago, as far as I know.
We have already contacted our reloc adv who doesn't seem to know anything more than we do nor passed any comment on the visa being issued ahead of the clearance being unusual.

Well, it sounds like you've done all you can to stay on top of your contingency clearing status. All you can do is wait at this point, but have a plan of what swift actions would need to take place if your departure confirmation leaves little time for closing up household details. Things like leaving or selling/renting your home, disconnection timing of utilities, what to do about cars, banking, mail, and legal errands, school and medical records, maybe renting a stoe unit or safekeeping with family any items you don't want to ship or risk confiscation through customs. Preparing an inventory lists for sea and air shipments of your household goods (I assume that hadn't happened yet if you are waiting on BI). Labeling everything you're shipping. Stuff like that. Putting together a calendar with these tasks--or knocking some of them off the to-do list right away-- is a beneficial way to focus nervous energy and get all the ducks in a row once you get the all-clear letter and plane tickets.
Welcome to life at Saudi Aramco...wait, wait, wait...then hurry up! Insh, it will all work out in the end.

This has happened a handful of times that the visa was issued and BI and or medical had not been cleared. One employee posted that Aramco had to reapply for their visas because the clearances did not come through prior to the visa expired.

I have read through this post and several others on the forum. I must thank everyone and the moderators for the helpful information they provide.
I seem to have found myself in this similar situation where I have done the medical , BI and got visa
I am currently waiting for the adviser to give a final confirmation following the booking of my flight for end of December 2013, now I have no confirmation coming through.
Is the confirmation to relocate to KSA suppose to come from my department ?

Yes, this was resolved in the end, two weeks before departure date. Appears that the blockage might have been with AOC and not the contingencies in themselves.
I sent you a PM, UKExpat.
