Guys
any of you working in NITI project or got an offer to do similar? I got an offer to work for Jal in Abqaiq location.
I would particularly like to know how is going for you, recruitment, contract, visa process, being in Saudi, bringing family, so on. I will be coming from UK. Is there anything I should prepare before hand, etc.
Any advise or share your experience so far. thanks

Hi dawnbreaker, I'm not in Saudi yet was told the following; I got an offer for a finance position with NITI project. I was told that intially I would be in temporary accommodation a furnished flat in Al Khobar. Have you also been recruited by Al-Hoty? Al-Hoty will process the following residence permit, Aramco ID card, your Saudi driving license, etc. However, if you want to drive straight away then bring your international driving license. To hire a car is 3000SR a month (About £500). I think it's worth hiring a car because you can't walk around like we do in UK because of heat and while it takes some time to process your paperwork you can get around. Mini holiday. lol lol While the documents are being processed, Al-Hoty will hook you up with one of their employees working in the Aramco Training Center in Abqaiq where you will be working from 6 to 12 months from April 2014 until the permanent National Industrial Training Insute (NITI) facilities are completed which I think is in Al-Hasa (1 hrs drive from Abqaiq). Someone correct me if I'm wrong. You will be paid a maximum of 10-day processing time from your arrival. So make sure you bring some money with you. Also, you will receive 3 flights a year (economy class) to your home destination which will span 2 weeks, 3 times a year. That's all I know mate. Did they say when your going out to Saudi? If you need to get in touch e-mail me on businesskam@yahoo.co.uk.

Kamranosman,
I am with Jal. My understanding was the facility for NITI is opening in April and I am going there straight after. I might be wrong.
The expected arrival date for me is middle of Jan 2014 but obviously paperworks and visa need to be processed beforehand, not sure that's a realistic ETA or not.

Hi Dawnbreaker,
I have been told the following for myself;
You will start receiving your salary as soon as you report to work on site which is expected to be February 2014. Although the start of the courses is expected in April 2014, NITI will give you orientation and probably familiarization sessions from Feb until April 2014.
I hope this helps.

dawnbreaker.
No, my agent hasn't done anything yet. Still waiting to hear.
Just a bit nervous about going to Abqaiq. Don't know what to expect?
I contacted another contractor at Aramco. He told me that working as a contractor isn't that bad and Al-Hoty recruitment agency isn't that bad either. So some positive info there.
However, reading other reviews on this website, some people say that you meet alot of good people at Aramco. Very helpful people. Anyway, I heard NITI were recruiting 160 people. Don't know how true that is but we'll all be in the same boat.
We just have to accept things take time.

Kamranosman,
I know very little about Abqaiq. My understanding is we will stay there few (2/3) months if we join in Jan/Feb. So I won't search for renting family home there, will wait for 3 months probation to finish and then if moved to the permanent site search for renting house there for family.
Everything on the air at the moment, a bit frustrating not to know what exactly going to happen in coming days.

Hi Dawnbreaker,
I don't think we will be able to live in Abqaiq. There is not much there from finding out from a few people. We are not given accommodation on compound too and probably will have to travel from Al-Khobar to Abqaiq everyday. Do you know how far is it and how long does it take?

Kamranosman, Google maps said 50mins for 80 km, time suggestion might be completely wrong. The thing is every time I look at Google maps over Saudi its looks depressingly blend, not much in there. But I am sure that's not the case.

People who travel from Abqaiq to dhahran to the main headquarters. It takes them 1 hour.
I suppose if people are working on the NITI project and your job is in Abqaiq it makes sense to live in Khobar. Its a main city and you probably can do alot more in the evenings than if you were living in Abqaiq.
