I have family status and am departing for the Kingdom not too far from now. I've been told that normal procedure is for me to travel alone and ahead of the family members, with the family following later when administrative procedures have been completed. However, I have also been offered to have my wife and kid travel with me, but told they will not be able to receive their residency permit there; they would have to leave the country first.
Can anybody explain these processes to me? What are typical timelines? If we want to minimize time apart, what would be the best option for us?
Thank you in advance for your input!
Marcel

Hi laselva
Thank you for responding. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to retrieve your PM in my PM inbox or email. I'm uncertain what the cause for this is.
I will try to send you a PM with my email address, but am uncertain whether it will reach you. Could you let me know via this chain in case you didn't receive it?
To respond to your question: I'm on EURO payroll, GC 12, assigned to Abqaiq and due to leave 30 November.
Thanks again,
Marcel

I have a similar question, I have been told that the family can only come later. Can you please provide details to the complete process i.e. I get a visa than iqama in Saudi and than apply for family. How long does it take to get the visa for family? Can they be in a different country while their visa is applied for? For instance, We all are Canadian nationals, but my wife would like to visit her parents in UK prior to leaving for Canada, so If I arrive in KSA first and apply for her and children visa while in Saudi when she is in UK? Not sure, if Saudi Embassy will entertain visa application for a Canadian Citizen. Thanks

A user previously posted it was his government's requirement that he come first without his family.
Unfortunately, applying for family visas can take a short or a long time. The same patience needed by new hires is needed for family visas
Hopefully, for you all it will be short.

I have the same situation. I am US payroll on family status, and I was operating with the understanding that my wife could choose to come with me or wait and come within 90 days to maintain family status. Will it be possible for her to travel with me if we choose that option?
