I tried searching the Forum for this, but haven't found anything. What are the TV options there for the homes? Is a subscription-based monthly service available, something similar (USA) to DirecTV or Comcast so recording of familiar US programs is an option for later viewing? If not, how do people view US programming? Thanks!

There are a few Satelitte TV companies. Showtime/Orbit (OSN) is a main one.
Some people set up Sling Boxes back home and have a DVR here to watch their programs. Others have a VPN and watch them online.

Hi, Could you explain sling boxes, VPR and VPN? We have just bought our Tele, but so far, only have BBCi directed from the laptop. DVDs were all abandoned in the UK, just incase they have offensive content, so we have limited watching options....and not much to entertain in the evenings :-(
Many thanks Jane

vpainter, do the residents living at the compounds have the option to install for example a satellite dish to view channels? Is it allowed or prohibited? If is is allowed, who usually takes care of that to do the installation?

yes, in the compounds you can have satellite dishes installed. Whichever TV satellite service you subscribe to, they will do the installation needed.
