Hi all,
I hope this finds you all well and it's great to join this forum.
I am a Malaysian, currently residing in my native city of Kuala Lumpur.
I have accepted an offer from Saudi Aramco back in early September 2013 to join as International Media Relations Specialist II with Grade Code 12.
I am currently a Manager at my present company - Petronas, where I have served for close to 10 years.
The offer from Aramco is really good and I am really looking forward to start, pending issuance of my visa (at the moment Aramco Overseas Company London is still waiting for Riyadh to issue my visa block).
My question is :
1. As a Specialist, does the position fall under the middle management bracket or lower? What does the II means? 2. My job offer is under the Indefinite Employment Term Agreement. Is this an open ended employment contract which means I can work with Aramco for as long as I wish and for as long as Aramco wants me? Is there also an annual salary review based on merit and performance?
Some additional info - I will be relocating to Saudi Arabia on Bachelor Status as my wife and kids have opted to remain in Malaysia. Is it difficult for me to secure family visit visas for them?
I have been assigned housing in Abqaiq which means I will have to take a bus to Dhahran. What time is the last bus from Dhahran to Abqaiq (assuming there are days when I have to work late).
Thanking you in advance for the answers and support.

Specialist does not mean management. Saudis are the management in Aramco for the most part.
You can work for Aramco until mandatory retirement at 60. Yes there are yearly reviews and annual raises.
Aramco will assist you in obtaining family visitor visas, you must do all the paperwork, they help getting them.
There are buses that run through the evening.

Thanks so much vpainter for shedding light on this.
With regards to the family visit visa, I was made to understand that we can also apply for dependants iqama for our family which makes it easier for them to enter and exit the Kingdom when they visit. Is this true? What is the difference between a family visit visa and dependants iqama? Which would be a better deal for my wife and kids. The plan now is that they will come visit me during the Malaysian school holidays which is roughly every quarter of the year.
On another note, I am getting quite nervous waiting for my visa block. Without it, the Saudi Embassy in Kuala Lumpur cannot process my individual visa. I hope to it will be issued asap. I am aware it can be quite a wait. I guess patience is key here...
Again, many thanks for your support.

I do not think visitors can receive an iqama. That is a resident ID card. If your family is visiting they are not residents.

Grade Code 12 is not a specialist level. Specialist levels are Grade Code 15. The le maybe a Specialist le but usually in Aramco the Specialist le is related to Grade Code. I wonder what the tile would be for a Grade Code 15, International Media Relation Specialist Specialist?
As for your question,
1. Management are usually reserved for Saudi nationals (which should be expected). 2. ITEA offer is what we usually call Permanent Position. You can work until the retirement age of 60 3.Family visit visa is not that difficult to attain but the process is quite a hassle especially having to deal with the local agent in KL. They can also stay for a maximum of 3 months (probably not an issue for you) but IIANM, you will need to remember that the next family visit visa can only be applied 6 months after your family leave the country so planning for them to visit every quarter maybe difficult. You may want to get confirmation from your recruiter regarding this. Another way to resolve this is for you to go back instead of them coming every quarter. Bachelor status employee gets 2 interim leaves a year (exclusive of the Repat) so you do get a lot of annual vacation.
Dependent Iqama will only be given to Family status employee. They have to be in-kingdom for them to get the Iqama.
PM me if you need any more info.
