Could somebody give me the benefits of making the move before the new year? I understand that if I arrive before Jan.1, 2014 that would qualify me for repat money in 2014. Are there anymore benefits that I am missing? Thanks!!

That is the benefit for arriving before Jan 1. If you arrive after Jan 1, you do not get repat money for all of 2014. You would get it in 2015.

Hi vpainter, Thanks so much for all the information you provide. I had a question about the repat.. We anticipate to be in KSA by end of year. Is this repat allowance given to all employees every year? What does it simply mean? I just don't quite get this repat thing.. I appreciate any input. Thanks,

Repat money is the unaccountable amount Aramco gives every year based on the POO (Point of Origin) and the number of members in the family (basically they pay you to go home every year ... or take those long vacations).
If you join before 1.1.2014, you get to take a repat in the year 2014. For example, if you come in on the 31st December 2013, you can take a repat vacation in December 2014 (as long as the vacation crosses the anniversary date) which Aramco will pay a lump sum amount in September or October 2014. You can then take another repat vacation in March 2015 (if you so wish) and Aramco will pay another lump sum amount in January/February 2015.
That is why your recruiter keeps asking you to come before the year is out.

Hi,
My visa is currently underway and planning to move in Jan or Feb. I am surprised to know that I will lose the vacation money for 2014 and will only get for 2015 onwards. Do I get this money for 2014 at a later stage like some companies who have it stated that an employee will net get the year money if he joins after jan 1st 2014 but will get the money of 2014 (prorated) and 2015 together in Jan 1st of 2015
So that means if i work 10 years in Aramco i would get the money for 9 years instead of 10 years?

You do not lose money you are not eligible for. The policy is you work for a year and then receive repat vacation monies. If you come Jan 1 or after during that year, you receive your first money the following year.
It is a nice benefit that if you come anytime in the prior year you receive the repat vacation money for the following year, therefore if you arrive on or before Dec 31, you receive the next year's repat money.
