o We are arriving in 3 weeks and will be living in Rakkah. My wife and I, have two boys 10 and 7 years old. We are all very excited and looking forward to the move. We are moving from US. Hope vpainter and/or others can help answer some questions. I know some of these may have been asked before, just want to get the latest information as things can change. 1. I read on the forum that it is advisable to setup VPN. Any advice on which one, where to get it etc. Will it work for all devices including apple. Never setup one before so looking for advice. 2. My wife has an iPhone with Verizon but it is locked. Should we buy unlocked iPhones from here ($550 for a 5C) or are better deals available there? 3. Can you find PAL converters there? We are bringing our TVs from US. 4. We have a Skype cordless phone, does skype work there? 5. I was told that it is easy to cash your US bank checks there, still true? 6. How much cash should we bring? For how many days? 7. What original documents should we plan on bringing? 8. My wife needs to get in touch with someone from the school, if you have a contact please send it to us. 9. Is it difficult to become a member of the golf club? I do want my kids to start golf, are lessons available for kids? 10. Do we need to rent a vehicle in the beginning? 11. Is there a site where my wife can look up about activities, social clubs, paid volunteer positions, etc Thank you for your help. Appreciate it.

1. I will let one of the IT experts answer this one. 2. At&T gave me the unlock code, I would first explain to Verizon you are moving and see if they would give you the unlock code for the phone. 3. The people I know who have them, brought then with them. 4. Skype works here 5. You may cash a check up to $2000USD/week at the bank on camp. They give you cash in Saudi Riyals for it. 6. Some people have stated on the forum to bring in 2000 to 2500SR's. 7. More recent arrivals should answer this one. Things have been changing since we arrived. 8. I will email you. 9. You fill out a form, pay a membership fee. There is a golf pro on site who gives lessons. Schedule and pay him for the lessons you want. 10. Many people do, the circuit buses run, but can not be convenient. But do work if you need them. 11. There is a list of activities in DHA under the Discussion Groups: Living in ARAMCO Communities: Living in DHA. Paid volunteer positions can be applied for after arrival.

1. It is advisable to setup your VPN account before you arrive. I use Witopia and it works fine with the iPhone/iPad etc etc. Cost me about USD69 a year which is not too bad. 5. The iPhone 5c is available here (probably around the same amount -- or slightly more expensive than what you have to pay to Verizon) but the units here will not have FaceTime so you may want to consider that limitation. The units here however are factory unlocked (meaning you can use them with any simcard you want) 9. Golf membership is easy. They will even pro-rate the membership fees based on when you sign up. Be sure to ask about the family package if you intend to get your kids playing golf as well.

Thank you so much for your replies. Is it allowed to ship cereals and/or dry snacks for kids in the air shipment?

One more question. Do I need to get converter plugs to covert flat pin american plugs to round ones?

Aramco 110/120 plugs are the 3 prong accepting 2 flat prong plugs or 2 flat prongs with the rounded ground prong. Regular U.S. plugs.

FSDNUSA, we bring in cereals/dry snacks in our checks luggage all the time. I would think you could put a few in your air shipment.
