Hi all, I just receive an offer and have been checking this forum for tips (very helpful) but will like to exactly know what are the normal deductions that a Canadian expat will see in his/her paycheck. I'm confused with the Hypo tax, is it for everyone or only the US citizens? I have a friend (non Canadian citizen/resident nor from the US) that started a couple of months ago and he says that he doesn't have any taxes or hypo tax deducted. So, besides housing rent, what other normal deduction a Canadian citizen will have? Thank you kindly.

Hi SZAS,
I am a Canadian citizen and will be joining Armco somewhere this month. Can you please also PM me the details about the hypo tax and other questions that gun420 has asked.
Thanks.

Hi Listner,
I hope gun420 would be able to give more info on this. I have only shared(through PM) the details of the deductions mentioned on the offer letter and the Relocation Booklet provided by Houston office in orientation session.
Cheers. SZAS

Gun240, I received the offer and no mention anywhere about the hypo tax, although during earlier phone chats with the recruiter this topic came to light, she was clear on not very seasoned with the hypo tax issue. Any insights? Thanks

cgyguy,
If it doesnt say anything about hypo tax in your offer salary worksheet than it must be for new hires. I didnt get any update on it, will reach out to HR today and run it by them.
thx g420

Can someone please send me some info on this as well? I went through my offer package and didn't see anything mentioned about a hypo tax or any deduction similar to this.

Hypo Tax: I have recently got a reply from my ASC recruiter, as follows:
The Hypo tax is no longer deducted from the monthly earnings . Therefore it will be the responsibility of the employee to save earnings to cover any taxes that need to be paid. Saudi Aramco does have any agency PriceWaterHouse Cooper that is available to all employees , free of charge to assist with filing taxes.
