First of all i would just like to congratulate you all on this very informative web site. I am just waiting for my Visa Medical subject to job offer of Senior Process and Control Technician. I will be based at Ras Tanura travelling as bachelor status. I am 46 years of age and I have spent 15 years in oil and gas industry and now working as a lead technician at a LNG facility in Wales. I am married with twin boys aged 18 years and all my friends have commented that this is an opportunity of a life time, life style etc. I hope you understand this has been a life changing decision for me and would appreciate any advice, i am sure there a few people on this forum that have been in my situation and any advice would be helpful.

Welcome to Aramco!
Come with an open mind, get involved in activity groups that interest you, plan your travel with family and with friends.
Be flexible at work and understand this is their company. The Saudi's have hired you for your expertise, but change is hard for anyone, so respectfully present what you know they should do if change is needed, if at first they don't accept it, then keep gently and respectfully teaching them why it needs to be done. They do listen and do change work practices but it can take time. Keep your good work ethic through it all.
While work is work, outside of work, socialize, play sports, join clubs and exercise groups, travel, have family visit and you visit family, etc, etc. Your non working hours and all the things you can do with your time, offset the times it can be frustrating at work. Enjoy your time here, around the world and all the many new friends you will make!

PJshing, It's Pete, I was with you at the orientation session and medical in London, I've just had an email this evening asking me to put my resignation letter in to be able to fly out by the end of Dec. I'm in contact with Scott who's also been asked to send his passports for visa stamping so hopefully we'll all be able to meet up together over there. If you want my personal email see if you can pm me or we could ask vpainter to act as the intermediary to pass on the details. Hope to hear from you soon, good luck. Pete.
