Can anyone share information about the yacht club? I'd like to know what type of boat would qualify- I'm planning to bring a fishing kayak. Since I'll be living in Rakkah, I'd need a place to store it. Is this possible at the yacht club? What are other membership requirements, and what is the process for joining? If anyone has information about shipping a boat/motor, I'd love to see that also. I've seen a lot about shipping vehicles, but not boats. Thanks!

The yacht club has specific requirements for membership, most of which are based on the type of boat. Kayaks are not one of the boats permitted for registration, and there are also very specific rules regarding fishing as well. The general requirement is finding a boat that meets the membership requirements in a fleet that has space. The fleets are power boats, offshore cruisers, catamarans, sunfish/laser/topaz, and windsurfer. The best starting point for this is to make contact with the HMYA when you arrive; Rakkah residents would be eligible for HMYA membership since they would be considered Dhahran from a proximity perspective.
As far as shipping a boat with a motor, that would require a specialized shipping company andyou would be on your own for that; note that the power boat fleet does not have any space the movement and there is a minimum HP requirement for boats as well.
If you do meet the requirements, membership is easy and HMYA is a nice place to spend the weekend - far less stressful than the causeway and you will meet some fantastic people out there.
