Is anyone currently commuting from Rakkah to Ras Tanura?
What times are buses going in the morning and returning in the afternoon, and how long is the trip?
Is anyone driving? What are roads and traffic like?

Might be best to pm this info, and not publish in open forum. Moderator has mentioned recently to be cognizant of security issues.

The commute when I made it was 25 minutes from Rakkah to Dhahran. Depending on where your office is located you could be on the bus from30 to 45 mins as the bus goes to each office.

Hi guys,
I'd also be really grateful if someone could PM me with the timetable and travel time between Ras Tanura and Rakkah.
Thanks to all the contributors to the forum!

Bus from RT to DH takes 40-50 min depending on traffic.

Could someone also address Cuttlefish's other question:
Is there wi-fi on the buses?

No wifi on the buses. You might could get a USB Internet from Mobily or STC and use it. Do not know if it will work along the way.

Bus schedules cannot be posted in this forum for security reasons. In your new arrival packet, there should be a local number to call Bus Services. You could also get schedule time tables from Customer Info.

I got an STC mifi as Vpainter suggested, and I'm happy to report that I get Internet all the way and back. I even watch my Netflix on the bus ride back.

The daily commute to RT from Khobar seems very tough. How many people do it every day? I know it depends for each individual, but, for how long this commuting can be bearable? Does anybody know people doing that for a long period of time?

I know of an employee who has chosen to live in the Khobar/Dhahran area and commutes to RT the 10+ years he has been here. Guess it is each individual's atude towards commuting. Living in Houston, TX deciding to live in the suburbs gives you an hour plus commute every day. It is normal living there. It can be normal living here if that is what you must do.
People use the time on the bus to sleep, read, visit, work/play on their computers, etc.

A guy in my unit lives in RT but works in Dhahran. The company tried to get him to move to Khobar when the leased compounds opened up but he refused. His family loves RT and he prefers to commute. The bus ride is painless. Personally, if I had to drive it every day, I think I would have a nervous breakdown within a year. If I could ever figure out the service between RT and Juaymah, I would take the bus to meetings in RT instead of driving. Sadly it still eludes me.
