Aramco RT post but through Al Falak?
by Taurus » Sat May 26, 2012 12:45 pm
Hi All,
I have an offer to come work in Ras Tanura but i gather that i wont be an "Aramcon" as my offer is through Al Falak.
Has anyone been down this road before to be able to advise me on the subtlties and differences of ex pat life in the Kingdom as an employee of Aramco and Al Falak if there is a difference. All the research i have been able to do is based from an Aramco point of view , with life and activities in the beautiful compounds, but will i not be allowed to be a part of all that.
I have a particular question about my kids and schooling, what are the options, as i have read here somewhere that the Saudi Aramco schools are exclusively for their employees( which i am technically not), if that is the truth and i am willing to pay for him is that possible and a ball park figure(monthly?)
I am supposed to mobilise within the next 60 days and having second thoughts, so will appreciate all the help and accurate, clear answers i can get from you guys.

There are a mulude of differences between working directly for Aramco and working as a contractor. Most of them center around the living conditions (Aramco camp vs outside accommodation) but there are also differences in the working conditions, level of logistical/adminstrative support for government-related formalities, length/stability of contract, pay, vacation arrangements etc. In fact, almost every aspect of your life here will be different when working as a contractor, as compared to working for Aramco. I have experienced both sides of the coin, so I know whereof I speak.
There is no way to pay for your children to go to an Aramco school.

I am new so cannot send PM to anyone. Could you guys send me a bit more details on working for Aramco via a Contractor? Mt contractor seems to be JAL International and have got an interview setup next week.
Would appreciate any advise regarding negotiation, expected salary range for qualified engineers and living expectation.

1London,
I guess you would have done your interview now. I have done ssimilar interview as an engineer through a contractor.
I think the main issue is none of us no what to expect until wwe get there, The problem is that if you have wetted your appeite by reading Aramco offers and conditions, it will be a dissappointment.
I have accepted my offer after I renegotiated my pay twice. At least I have done my calculations and feel I am okay with what I have negotiated for a modest lifestyle. I intend to give it a try and see if I canm get onboard Aramco in the future, if not I will be satisafied that I have tried.
Is there anyone with an idea what an Engineer III does in a refinery at Dhahran? Please share your thoughts.

Hi Kimlabolton,
I also got offer for Engineer III role in Dhahran for "Saudi Aramco Projects" and it's via Al-Falak. I am Civil Engineer and have no idea what my actual role will be or what Aramco Projects means .
Did your offer say that you will be based in a refinery?
Anyone got offer via Al-falak?
Cheers

Hi ohmi1111,
I called Al-Falak couple of times (and emailed them quite a few times) and enquired about the process. I accepted the offer on 30/09/2013 and only last week they arranged a Visa agent for me. Looks like it takes some time for the contractors to do the paper works and get approval from Saudi government agencies. So call or email them and be patient.
Cheers
