Good day everyone:
My first post here. Very thankful for the existence of this forum. Sheds quite a bit of light on what's behind the curtain.
If you are familiar with a Western couple both working as expats in Saudi Aramco (both received offers prior to arriving in KSA, not casual spouse) and who are not in medical, teaching professions - could you please provide their contacts, with their permission. First off, I am wondering if such a thing is possible, we may become such a couple insh! I am an engineer from Canada with BI/medical done, waiting on visa (Bachelor status, family initially (1 year) staying behind in Canada). My wife was recently contacted by recruiter in supply chain/procurement (aka materials management) role saying that she will get an interview in a couple of weeks. This is where my imagination kicks in...what if...is it possible we will both get jobs with Saudi Aramco?
First off, my wife's recruiter does not know yet that she is married and that me, her husband, has already accepted an offer. Others have mentioned and I have read it here that they may not give her an offer or withdraw the offer once they find this out? Have you heard of this withdrawal actually happening?
I was hoping of withholding this information until recruiters ask, at which point we have to tell everything, so that she at least gets the offer and gets to meet her potential manager who we can contact later in KSA if everything falls apart and ask for expedited casual worker placement for my wife (saying that she did receive an offer, you do need her expertise - 10 job postings are still on the website not filled since May in her role- SA can't find people to fill them, somehow hoping that this will help get her casual employment faster). Is it possible to get two individual bachelor status offers for us?
I have heard of ups and downs in expat spouse work permits being issued throughout years past, does anyone know what is the situation right now? is there a freeze on expat spouse permits, how long is the usual up and down cycle, several years? when was the last up cycle when permits were easily given out?
I am aware that a standard approach is for spouse to enter KSA, adjust for several months/make friends and then start looking for casual work with low expectations of success and be able to live with it if nothing comes up. I am just having trouble accepting that and believe that there may be exceptions, just looking to get in touch with people who have both received offers at home in the West prior to arriving in KSA or even a confirmation that these couples exist.
Done a search on this forum under: couple working, dual, casual spouse - without answers to my questions.
Any help and advice is much appreciated.
