I will be living and working in DHA (hopefully) for the first time in October. One of my passionate hobbies is fine art painting. Does anyone know if there is studio space available in DHA (for rent or otherwise)? How about the availability of art supplies?

There is a large Art Group in DHA and the Art Building has space for you to paint, you can rent a locker when you join the group if available. They have many easels.
You can even teach painting if you wanted to through the art group. There is usually an Art Show every year, although the coming year they are having trouble finding a willing volunteer member(s) to take charge of doing the show.
Some Art Supplies are available in the stores: Jarir's Bookstore and Al Zamil's craft store in Khobar. Although, many painters bring in the paints they like. Limited options for paints here. Canvases available in many sizes. Some brushes available. Odorless turp available. Pink soap found on occasion.

That is great news (except for the lack-of-paint part).
Can you get basic oil and acrylic sets (primary colors) with standard mediums, varnishes and such? That's really all I need.
Teaching and volunteering also sound attractive. Although, I need to find out the rigors of my new employment first
Now, I'm even more excited about getting there. Thanks for the info!

Also, we're learning that we will probably be placed in Rakah. We won't have a car, at first. Do you think I will be able to get back and forth from home in Rakah to art studios in DHA readily?
