Hi all, I have received an offer from ARAMCO last week and the accommodation is in ABQ. I have received a family status as I will move with my wife and our 18 months old daughter and soon our son ( still be born on 1st of December). We are still thinking about accepting the ABQ accommodation or not ( in that the offer ) as we do have some worries regarding our son that at the time of the move will be around 2 months. I know that there is SAMSO in ABQ, is it fully equipped for babies that small? Is there also a pharmacy on the camp ? Otherwise as at the time of the offer we are only 3 ( today) we are going to receive a two bedroom house now. BUt at the time of the move we are going to be 4. Is it possible to change the house before we arrive. That is from the 2 bedroom house to the 3 bedroom house? Is it possible to receive some photos of the ABQ houses ? And finally as I hope that the forum has many followers/readers : Are there any other Romanians on camp? Out of curiosity of course. Thank you very much for your time and feedback. S.

hi Vpainter,
Thank you for the details.
I do have now a question regarding the transportation.
I am planning to bring my own car in the "surface allowance transportation" given by ARAMCO.
I wanted to know what happens once the car is in Saudi. Does it need to be registered in the country ( not ARAMCO sticker to enter the Dhrahan)? Will Aramco help me with the papers?
did someone already did this ? I think so .
Thank you very much for your help and time.
S.

I understand that in Abq are a couple of families from Ro so you are not the only one.

I would suggest telling them right now that you want a 3 bedroom house because your wife will deliver a baby in December. There may not be any 3 bedroom homes available, but it's best to ask. The 2 bedroom homes do usually have 3 bedrooms, but they call the 3rd bedroom a study/office rather than a bedroom. You should have enough room whether or not you get the 3 BR home.
You will be able to see a pediatrician in the ABQ clinic, and if there's not a pediatrician available every day, you can see a GP. (I live in UDH, and we don't have a pediatrician every day, so many times we see the regular GPs which are all great with the kids.) If you need the Aramco hospital, it's only an hour away from ABQ. There is a pharmacy at the clinic (which is free with prescription from your doctor), and there should be a few locally owned pharmacies outside the compound. The commissary may sell a few basic medications.

Thanks Irishcoffee and UmmRiyamm for your answers.
We have as a deadline next Monday to decide either we accept or not the offer.
Another thing that we taking into consideration is wheather to bring our car with us or not in the "surface shipment". Looking through the forum I have seen many people that they wished they would have but none that actually did.
Does anybody know what is the procedure once the car is in Saudi? How does one deal with the registration of the car and so on ?
Also it seems that the driving license needs to be exchanged or better said a Saudi Driving license needs to be issued. Is that complicated? How long would it take?
Thank you all again for your time and feedback.

Hi there, We are waiting for our visas as well. We have seen the standard floor plans in the guide book. is it possible to receive some photos of ABQ houses - we will be getting a 2 bed. Would be great if someone could forward me some pictures of a 2 bed house.Hopefully that will give me some idea of what to bring with us in terms of house furniture.
Thanks. Robin

Christianro,
If you ship your car, it is on your own dollar. Aramco does not pay to ship cars. The car has to have a clear le and must be under 5 years old. Their are agents here who will help you get the car through customs. Read under the first discussion group: Frequently asked questions for car shipping information. I have friends who have shipped their cars and are glad they did.

o Christianro,
I am from Romania too, and I've been offered a job in Ras Tanura with family relocation. I found your older posts and wondering how did you solved your initial problems and if you have any useful advice for new Romanian "recruits" ; any information would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
