I have recently arrived in Dahrahn and am working at the ARAMCO ITC. I have been hired through a private contractor. I would like to bring my family (wife and 2 year old son) here as soon as possible.
I have asked the contractor that I am working for to assist me in this process and have been told..."No problem. Do not worry. Everything is taken care of."
Thus far in my dealings with this contractor I have noticed that things are not being taken care of. I am encountering multiple problems that result directly from of a combination of inepude, disorganization, and a general lack of concern for my plight now that they have placed me and obtained their recruitment fee.
I was not, for example, picked up at the airport. I was not reimbursed in the time frame that they said I would be reimbursed. I have been repeatedly not picked up or taken where I am supposed to be. And their general response when I point out problems is to either blame someone else or to give me some roundabout " willing...." excuse. In a situation where any reasonable person would expect an apology I have been met with indignation and some odd combination of arrogance and indifference. I'm sure there is some cultural difference at the root of this that I will eventually learn to deal with.
Fortunately, the people I have been working with at ARAMCO, the faculty, and other expat teachers have been tremendously helpful and ultimately they are who I will be dealing with once I get over this initial settling in period.
So to my initial point... because I do not feel I can depend on anything my contractor tells me: What is the actual process for bringing my wife and son here? My wife is Korean and my son is Korean/American. They are both currently in South Korea. I would like to immediately begin obtaining documents, getting things attested, stamped, approved, etc.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
