Dear Rakah residents
Now that we have some families moved in Rakah and school started. Can you please share the real experience on driving time, between Rakah and the schools in Dhahran camp and if there are any issues.
ALSO
I am told the Elementary and Middle School are in two different locations, does Rakah have one bus to Elementary and one to Middle School? What time does Bus Leave Rakah and school starts.
Again, thanks in advance

Thanks Azrael.
I read the busses departing and arriving at Middle School in 40 mins and at the Elementary school in 50 mins. , that is too much for the little ones, then they have to wait outside until schooll opens at 7:40am.. that is more than one hour.., I know they just started school, has anyone discussed with Aramco services to assigned 2 busses one for Elem and one for middle school?. this way they can depart at 7am?
I know this is key area for many parents going to Saudi including us. There should be a better way to handle this comuting for children.

I think in the thread I posted, revive did mention that they are asking for separate buses for the middle school and the elementary. Maybe you can follow up in that particular thread.
As for the wait time before 7:40, you'd be surprised that even those who live close by the school will want to go to school before 7:25 because the extra 15 minutes before school starts, the kids like to play with their friends (sort of an early recess for them). My son always go to school by 7:25AM and we live within walking distance to the school.

BelTex, Believe you me, many parents have requested this so the logistics are currently being worked on. I'm sure we will eventually get multiple school buses, multiple workhaul buses (for the husbands), multiple shoppers buses, beach bus, etc. Most things are just waiting for critical mass and then the logistical details will need to be worked out. But everything will happen; it's only a matter of time.
People like me who moved in early are currently experiencing Rakkah's growing pains. But folks who will arrive in a few months will have a much easier time as many more things will already be in place by that time.

The "critical mass" will hit way before they can get the ball rolling on these issues, I'll bet...tons of families are on the way..

Is there any talk of ever starting schools in Rakkah itself? I would assume the current influx of families would greatly increase the teacher to student ratio in DHA, and consequently reduce the quality of the overall education system.

Originally they were going to have PreK 3 and 4 and Kindergarten. They may add the kindergarten later, or may not. Since the lease on Rakkah is 5 years, they may not open more grades there. Although if they continue to lease the compound, it could always a possibility.

divenpuff,
Off course! At the end, whatever needs to be done will be accomplished, somehow someway. But not to say there won't be any delays, hiccups, etc. This is not America or UK. Things work differently here; and everything here requires patience and persistence. Some flexibility & positive atude won't hurt either. But overall it's really not bad compared to some other countries.

Their number is on the phone list left in your home. Should your home not have the list, go to the Community Information Center, they will have a list of numbers for you.

I understand the security issues, and I agree.
Could someone tell us the comuting time from Rakah to Dhahran Schools ? 20 min? 40 min ?
