o, I have just been told that my work location has changed to Udhailiyah. Does this mean I will have to live there too? I am going out as a single female Grade 8 ... anyone help please?

Unless the Udhailiyah camp single accommodation is full (and I have heard nothing to that effect) then you would normally be assigned housing there.

Udhailiyah is 2 hours from Dhahran by car or bus. so, yes, you would have to live in UDH. It's a nice small community. There are buses you can take to Hofuf or Khobar for shopping.

Great ... so I assume that the shops have all the things you need, furniture etc
I have been told I will be living there too and I wonder what the facilities are like and are there a lot of single people there at all?

There is a discussion forum on "Living in Udhailiyah" - you could probably find a bit more info there. Living in Udhailiyah

Thanks but there is not much on there .. does anyone know how good the buses are between Udhailiyah and Dhahran for example and how easy is it to get to Bahrain for a weekend ...
I am a bit worried that it is way out and that travelling to other places will be difficult. Also if anyone does have any ideas on what things are available there to do clubs etc that would be great too
thanks in advance

Aramco provides the same bus service to UDH that is does to the other compounds. Yes, you will have a longer trip for some places, but the transportation is provided and Aramco buses are usually on time.
Aramco has a bus for ladies to Bahrain, and may have one in UDH.
I am sending you an email with a UDH contact who will be better able to answer your questions. There are not very many people in UDH on the forum.

I think there are quite a few single female nurses living here (housing for both the UDH clinic and Hofuf clinic). I am not sure about single ladies in other professions, but I'm sure there are some here.
There are some self-directed groups similar to the other compounds and of course the women's group.
I think the hardest part for you will be that you will have to rely on the buses to go shopping for anything other than what you find in the commissary. The furniture warehouse can provide furniture until you are able to buy some of your own, or you can keep renting. The prices aren't too much.
They are in the process of building a new gym for ladies. It will be very nice once it's completed next year.
I'm sorry, I really don't know what I can tell you about UDH because I have no experience of living here single or without kids. My kids keep me very busy! I think you may need a hobby!

Did you receive my email from before with a UDH contact? Were you able to get in touch with them?
