Hi,
I have been offered a position at Aramco with housing in DLC-Rakkah. I am in the process of background check.I will appreciate if someone will answer the following random questions,
1) How far is the compound from shopping and family and/or take-out restaurants? 2) Is there a mosque on the compound? If no, whats the distance of the closest mosque? 3) What is the ceiling height in the bedrooms and the living room? 4) What are the activities available to spouses without kids?
In addition to the above, can someone please take and post or PM me more detailed pictures of the compound surroundings, amenities and the houses (inside and out). I will really appreciate the effort. It will make it easy to plan what to bring and what not.
Thanks.

1). Shopping and restaurants are about 10 - 15 mins away, depending on where you want to go, could be longer 20 - 30.
2). There is no mosque on the compound. Do not know the closest one.
3). Sorry do not remember paying attention to ceiling height on my tour.
There is a link for pictures in the topic of this discussion group: Pictures of Rakkah.
4). Women's Group coffee morning in DHA. Art Classes and quilting group also in DHA.
In Rakkah, there are the weight machines and free weights room, the pools, squash, tennis, racket ball, there is an aerobics teacher there, Aramco has horses there for residents to use and take lessons. You can also read about all the activities available in Rakkah in a topic in this discussion group. There is a lot written, I encoue you to read the posts already posted under Living in Rakkah.

We may also be moving to Rakkah soon. I was wondering what the day to day life is like there. I am concerned with the size and lack of amenities? Are there currently activities available for kids on the compound or do most families drive to Dhahran? Is there an area to walk or throw a ball for a dog on the compound? How often to residents of Rakkah drive to Dhahran and how do you find the drive? What is the traffic like and how long does it take you?
Is there anyone I can speak with who is currently living in Rakkah? I would appreciate any feedback. Maybe we can discuss through a private email?
Thanks so much:)

You should be able to find a small masjid close outside Rakkah. They aren't always obvious, but there are small masjids within walking distance to most homes and businesses in the cities in Saudi Arabia. Once here, you will easily be able to find the larger masjids for Jummah prayer. If you find several Muslim men in Rakkah, you could ask for a room to be designated for prayer. Maybe they would accommodate you.

There may not be a mosque as such but I'd be surprised if there isn't a musalla. And given what I know of the company, if there isn't a musalla and you ask for one to be provided, I'd be astounded if they didn't comply.

Thanks vpainter and everyone else for the helpful information.
Still, if anyone from Rakkah can provide additional pictures of the inside and outside the houses and around the camp such as entrance and sea views (besides available through facebook link) it will be very much appreciated.

Hi, I might be completely out to lunch, but where on the map is this compound? Does someone have a schematic of the compound that shows homes, pool, restaurants, etc.

There is a mushalla in Rakkah (but no masjid).
Ceiling height is 9', except the kitchen is 8'.
