o everyone,
I'm a US citizen and have received an email confirming an interview in Houston next month. I believe the contractor I'll be under is SRACO. The questions I have are:
1. What are the probabilities of being hired after the interview? (I have applied for a Cost Engineer/Estimator position) I understand it all depends on how the interview goes, but want to know if most people are hired since they told us we were shortlisted.
2. If hired under SRACO, what are the living conditions in terms of housing, meals, transportation, etc.? the email I've received from the recruiting company states "On offer is a full, tax free package, inclusive of accommodation, transport, food, consumables & laundry as standard", I tried to do some research but most of the information is for Aramco direct hires.
3. If I'm successful in the interview, how long does it take from that point until I'm physically present in KSA? Not sure about the paperwork but would like to have an idea.
4. Lastly, the offer is for a single status, but I have a wife and a 2-year old. Would they be able to visit me? Are the SRACO camps safe for them?
Thank you very much for your advice and I apologize for the long questions.
Best Regards,
Marcelo

Hopefully someone on the forum knows about SRACO.
3). If you will do a search for "Timeline" on the forum, you will see the many different timelines of new employees with Aramco. All those timelines are normal. From a few months to over a year.
In Aramco family status is dependent upon GC. I do not know if below GC 10's can have their family visit. Anyone?
Sorry not much help for you, hopefully someone else will know more.

I worked for SRACO. SRACO is a ok company. I wonder, though, why a contractor is invited for interview to Houston. Normally, direct hires are invited to Aramco, Houston. SRACO rents hotel room(s) for singles/apartment homes for families , for housing expats. It is better to ask for cash instead of SRACO provided housing/transportation. You can very well get something better than what they provide and save some cash by doing this. If you've never worked in GCC before, and have a decent job in U.S ,it's not worth giving it up and going to Aramco as a contractor. Visa for contracting companies might take a bit longer but they do have block visas. You need to check with them if they can get you family visa later.

I was also invited to an interview in Houston with JATCO. Does anyone have any ideas as to how this outfit operates? My interview package says that I will get "a generous allowance for my living costs", I guess they don't have a living compound, but what does "generous" mean? Thanks in advance for your replies.
ps: My interview package did say that JATCO can make an offer on the spot. Is that a take it or leave it or is there room for negotiations?
