A friend of mine who's grandfather worked for Saudi Aramco had a book that has been passed through the family "Aramco and its World". Im no where finishing but its quite amazing about history of the region, cultural and culinary history. Highly recommend if you can get your hands on it. Im hoping good fortune and patience will allow me to see it myself enjoy!

Aramco and Its World is a fairly old book. One that can be obtained from ASC is A Land Transformed. It is more up to date.

Another good book is Arabian Sands by Wilfred Thesiger about living & travelling in The Empty Quarter. It's not truly reflective of the modern Saudi Arabia but will help you to understand the Bedouin culture and many of the traditions and customs that exist to this day

Saudi Aramco and its world: Arabia and Middle East by Nawwab is a good book. It explain how the economies of oil flourish. The book described well the history.
