What are the common airborne or communicable diseases in the region to watch out for that affect children and adults? Thanks

The same common cold/viruses, flu, ear infections, strep throat, allergies, asthma etc. as in the USA.
The only different virus I know of is the MERS Corona virus, but I think the chances are pretty low to catch it when you spend most of your time in the Aramco compound.
Also, they say there's a high incidence of Tuberculosis here, but I don't think it's really so common. My husband is Saudi, and we've never heard of any of his relatives having it. I personally haven't heard of anyone getting it, but they have signs about it in some hospitals, so I guess some elderly people do get it. Everyone must be tested for TB before coming to Saudi Arabia, so in general expats should have a clean bill of health when they arrive.
STD's also exist here, but only you can control if you're at risk for getting one.
