Hi Everyone,
Do Aramco houses have stationary wardrobes or shall I ship mine which is a part of the bedroom furniture set. If there is, I would rather use it rather than mine, because I think as ours is so big, it takes a lot of place in the bedroom as well as it weighs a lot for surface shipment.
Second, do houses have natural gas supply? Or can I buy LPG cylinder for my cooker?
Opinions?

I have not seen a company-constructed house with free-standing wardrobes - all the houses I'm familiar with have built-in closets. I'm not sure about all the "local" compounds such as Rakkah or the compounds the company uses in Riyadh, Jeddah, Yanbu etc but the ones I have lived in also had built-in closets.
There is no mains gas supply in company compounds. You can buy gas cylinders but in my experience it would be unusual to use a gas cooker inside the house, if that's what you're referring to. Lots of people use gas cylinders with their barbecues but obviously, that's only for outdoors.

Thank you for quick reply,
I was talking about those built-in-closets by "stationary wardrobe". Are those built-in closets big enough, and what is the normal practice? Do people bring their wardrobes, or normally use those built-in-ones.
Is it only the refrigirator which belongs to the house and no rents after 4 months, or are any other appliances in that category?
Thank you

We have plenty of closet space. In our home, each of the smaller bedrooms have a walk in closet, and the larger bedroom has a full wall of closet (2 double doors) plus a walk in closet. There is also a closet with shelves in our upstairs hallway and a smaller coat closet downstairs. (we don't live in a typical 3 bedroom townhome style, but I think all the homes have sufficient closet space) There are also 2 rooms/closets in the gae that can be used for stoe. One is air conditioned.
In addition to one refrigerator, you will get a dishwasher and a stove/oven/range. Our stove has a double oven. I haven't heard of anyone replacing their Aramco-issued electric stove with a gas stove. I am not sure if housing would approve due to the fire risks associated with the gas stove.

All Aramco homes are all electric. No natural gas. Propane tanks can be gotten for outside BBQ's.
Houses in DHA, RT, ABQ, UDH, and Rakkah all have built in closets. Do not know about Yanbu, Jeddah, or Riyadh.

o, 1. I just wanted to confirm: Is it correct that furniture in the bigger Dhahran compound is free for the first 4 months but rented thereafter and for Rakkah it is free for any period of time while you're living there? 2. In Rakkah, is it possible to borrow some of the furniture and not all, or is it all or nothing? 3. In Rakkah, is the room seen here www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater the "Service Shaft" of the floor plan? 4. In the bigger Dhahran compound, is a 2 bedroom home generally assigned for a couple with no children? If a couple is placed there, could one imagine something a little similar to the homes in Rakkah minus a room or two and maybe a floor? Thank you ~

1). That is correct
2). You can use Aramco furniture until you have furniture of your own, yes you can use Aramco pieces and your own pieces at the same time.
3). That is the study room. The service shaft is where the inside A/C unit is located. The study is called a utility room on the floor plan, but the floor plan does not exactly match the houses. The bathroom on the floor plan is in the hall outside that room. There is a landing at the top of the stairs that can be used as a study area, sitting area, play area, etc.
4). Yes in DHA a 2 BR townhouse would be assigned to a couple with no children and it would be considerably smaller in square footage than the houses in Rakkah. The DHA houses would be a 1 or 2 story townhouse or a modular 1 story.
