Hi All,
I have been offered the position of Engineer III - GC12. At first did not pay much attention, but after reading some posts on this forum, it seems to me this grade is quite junior. Am I right? I have more than 15 years professional experience, having worked on senior level at a few places already and I am duly registered as a professional engineer (Chartered) and have a Masters degree. Shouldn't they offered me a higher grade? Am I able to renegotiate? Any info will be appreciated.
Thanks

Every position is assigned a GC. There are people with almost 20 years experience and Master's and PhD's with that GC. GC for the most part depends on the position you have applied for.

Thanks vpainter,
So in effect that means a professional is always tied to a particular GC? How does career progression work then? Salary raises within the same GC? Job le also doesn't change?

Everyone gets a yearly evaluation. You can get yearly raises within a GC. Promotions can be given, not guaranteed, which include a GC increase and le change that goes with the GC.
